Roughly 10% of the woman in the United States alone each year have some degree of difficulty getting pregnant. Many turn to conventional medical treatments to increase their chances of conception, but many also use alternative therapies either alone or in conjunction with conventional treatment. Acupuncture is one of the many alternative treatments that many people turn to in an effort to increase their fertility.

Studies have shown that acupuncture can in fact increase fertility rates in some woman who receive repeated treatment. The theory is that acupuncture increases blood flow to the woman’s ovaries, which is where eggs are produced and also to the lining of the uterus where implantation takes place.
